The Client: A leading US Test & Measurement Solution vendor in the Network Monitoring market
The Challenge
Amartus was engaged to design and build a Carrier Class Test & Measurement solution that allowed network operators to carry out real-time monitoring of business and residential network services (MPLS & DSL). Amartus’ knowledge of the IP Service Provider market, Enterprise applications and the Product Development Lifecycle allowed for successful positioning well in front of the competition.
The initial project was built on top of an existing application. The charter was to deliver a next generation network monitoring solution for a L3VPN B2B Carrier. A key requirement was seamless integration with the Service Providers OSS systems allowing tier 1 operators to run tests with minimal ramp-up.
The Solution
This solution required a team with deep knowledge of Operation Support Systems (OSS), and Networking as well as proven expertise building scalable and reliable Carrier Class software solutions.
Amartus chose the latest Oracle Application Server & Database to base the solution on, which provided the scalability and high availability required. The solution implemented a full Java Enterprise (J2EE 5) N-tier architecture with presentation, business and data layers.
Encrypted Web Services were used to communicate with the Test Engines and OSS systems residing on separate servers.
The first working solution was delivered in just 2.5 months (from Concept to Go-live).
Since this initial engagement the relationship has gone from strength to strength with the Amartus team continuing to play a strategic partnership role.
