TM FORUM MANAGEMENT WORLD, DUBLIN, IRELAND, STAND #38 – May 25, 2011 – Amartus, a developer of next-generation operational support system (OSS) and management software solutions for telecoms, today announced its upcoming Service Commander™ 2.0 release. This is a major upgrade of its flagship OSS software that features the industry’s first programmable network application programming interface (API) framework for dynamic, on demand connectivity service fulfillment across next generation (NGN) IP, Ethernet and optical transport networks.
Now, carriers can truly collaborate with cloud service providers, network exchange operators and corporations to allow them to dynamically create their own services on the carrier’s network. With an open API, carriers can offer unlimited creation of on-demand services to better meet the emerging network business models of their customers and partners while delivering new revenue-generating offerings.
Service Commander was launched in Aug. 2010 and provides end-to-end service delivery for highly complex networks that traverse multiple carriers, domains, technologies and equipment vendors. It offers service-centric processes and tools for design, deployment and operation of dynamic on-demand connectivity that underpin next-generation cloud, business, mobile and residential data networks.
In this release, Service Commander’s new open API framework offers fast support for a range of OSS interfaces, including the TeleManagement Forum (TMF) multi-technology operations system interface (MTOSI), which provides a very efficient means for rapid integration with other applications in the OSS / BSS environment.
The industry is transitioning from static service offerings with fixed subscriptions to dynamic on-demand service offerings with pay-per-use models that provide one-time, boost, promotional and interconnect access to the network. In addition, the rush to the cloud is transforming the way connectivity services are procured and delivered. In this new world of dynamic on-demand services, open access to programmable network APIs is critical to enable flexibility and field customization of services.
TM Forum hosts a unique Catalyst program, where service providers and other end users act as project "champions,” guiding collaborative vendor teams to bring innovative, not-seen-anywhere-else ideas and solutions to life.
Amartus Service Commander provides the solution for the provisioning and assurance of end-to-end network connectivity as part of its contribution to the “
Enhanced Cloud Service Management” catalyst. This is one of the most complex aspects of unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) service delivery, as this connectivity typically traverses a diverse range of vendor equipment, spanning multiple domains and multiple carrier networks.
To provide the elastic, on-demand support required for UC&C services, Amartus provides a simple programmable network API that exposes the network as a service (NaaS). This API isolates the caller from the complexities of the proprietary vendor, domain and carrier implementations, focusing solely on delivering connectivity with the required user experience. British service provider BT champions this catalyst with lead vendor Cisco. Other partners include Progress Software, Comptel, Metratech and InfoVista.

This catalyst introduces the first web programmable telecommunications network and demonstrates how operators can control and monetize their network bandwidth capabilities using web-based interfaces. It leverages the Exemplar network, which was commissioned by the Irish Government to test and validate new revenue-generating services and applications that can take advantage of the dynamic nature of a web-programmable network.

Additional Service Commander 2.0 features include MPLS VPN and MPLS-TP reference implementations that demonstrate the true multi-technology support of the software, as well as pre-integrated support for Oracle and Apache Tomcat, which offers greater flexibility & efficiency in deployment. Enhancements to provisioning, discovery and network integration provide greater scalability and performance.
Availability
Service Commander 2.0 will be generally available in June 2011. It is being showcased in live demonstrations at TeleManagement World stand (#38), and in several key TMW Catalysts.

Dublin, 20th May 2011 - As part of the Catalyst demonstrations at TM Forum’s Management World in Dublin, 23-26th May, Intune Networks, along with Openet and Amartus, will be presenting their collaboration of the Exemplar Network: Dynamic Desktop — the first web programmable telecommunications network that enables operators to control and monetise their network bandwidth capabilities using web based interfaces. The Exemplar Network was commissioned by the Irish Government to test and validate new revenue generating services and applications that can take advantage of the dynamic nature of a web enabled network.
The Exemplar Network, championed by BT, was built on Intune Networks’ Verisma platform, along with service creation via Amartus’ Service Commander™ and Openet’s Policy and Charging Control platform to create a programmable network that provides unprecedented real-time bandwidth control and flexible service delivery.
Industry problem: Bandwidth demands on carriers’ networks are growing exponentially while revenues and profits are decoupled from the cost of delivering the network.

Amartus joins Leading OSS Vendors in Defining an End-to-End Cloud Computing Services Management Framework
DUBLIN, IRELAND—10 May 2011— Amartus, a leading vendor of next generation OSS/BSS and network management solutions for service providers, today announced the Enhanced Cloud Service Management Catalyst that will explore how communications service providers (CSPs) can develop, monetise and assure a portfolio of innovative and unique cloud computing-based services like hosted video conferencing.
Building on the Inter-Cloud Service Management Catalyst, which was demonstrated at TM Forum’s Management World 2010 conference, the proof-of-concept initiative includes a number of new participants, as its objectives broaden from the fulfillment of cloud services to the operational processes associated with assurance, usage collection, billing, rating and charging.

· BT, as a champion of the Enhanced Cloud Service Management Catalyst, serves as an enterprise consumer and retailer of complex cloud computing services, providing the context for exploring how BT can provide unique business value through an ‘enhanced’ cloud computing service, in this case utilising Telepresence as part of a cloud computing service.
· The Cisco® Hosted Collaboration Solution provides a scalable, distributable, partitionable and resilient Internet Protocol (IP) communications platform that supports the delivery of hosted collaboration tools (such as video, voice and web conferencing, telephony, messaging, presence and more) as a cloud computing-based service.
· Cisco provides the underlying IP Next-Generation Network management components, which can monitor and provide visibility into the health of the service transport network. Cisco Prime Network is controlled through the MTOSI interface to adjust the quality of service (QoS) of a branch office VPN. The Catalyst demo shows how “end-user experience” for Cisco TelePresence™ is repaired in an automated fashion using integrated policy management.
· Amartus’ role in the unified communications solution is to present a TM Forum MTOSI interface that isolates the other software components from integration with non-standards management interfaces at the network layer. The benefits of this approach are faster ‘time to market’, reduced integration / maintenance and vendor independence. The MTOSI interface is delivered using the advanced model driven mediation capabilities of the Amartus Chameleon OS™.
· Comptel was responsible for orchestrating the delivery of the unified communications services in phase one and is now taking a key role in the monetisation by capturing and rating usage and performance data from the infrastructure. Comptel will provide its mediation and rating engine, Comptel Control and Charge™, to collect usage data and to couple policy control capabilities tightly with charging.
· InfoVista’s role is to proactively monitor the complex and part-virtualized infrastructure, service and application environment. This entails detailed monitoring of assigned QoS, service utilisation and availability of the provisioned unified communications services, leading to key performance indicators and alerts being leveraged by the other participating software solutions.
· MetraTech’s billing solution, MetraNet, is used to complete the billing process, providing the data needed for managing the financial aspects of policy controls and supporting the other customer care activities that surround the typically complex hierarchies and payment authorities of an enterprise customer's bill. By aligning event performance data with product-rated usage data and the particular contract terms of Service Level Agreements for each enterprise user, MetraNet is able to calculate appropriate charges or credits.

Amartus Launches Industry’s First OSS Solution Providing True Connectivity Service Automation for NGN Service Providers
Hanover, New Hampshire – August 9, 2010 – Amartus, a developer of next generation OSS/BSS solutions, today announced Service Commander, the industry’s first end-to-end next-generation connectivity service automation management platform, enabling service providers to automate their connectivity service delivery process.
The rapid proliferation of next-generation connectivity services required for cloud transport, wireless backhaul, residential and business services has placed increased pressure on carriers to deliver services more rapidly and cost-effectively than ever before. This is a sea change for service providers and Service Commander is the first solution available to automate the design, deployment and operation of those services.
“New connectivity services used to take years to deploy since the service was intrinsically bound up with the particular network equipment deployed.
